Hedlok is a boss character in several modes in ARMS. Notably, it has six ARMS (two different types, with three copies of each) when fought, being the only character in-universe to have such a distinction.

Hedlok was created by ARMS Laboratories as a follow-up to Helix. However, it broke free and went on a rampage. Hedlok inflicts brainwashing, and its motivation seems to be wanting to destroy everything in order to "grow".

Hedlok resembles a metallic mask with a large mouth, having four ARMS, two on either side of it. His body appears to change into the form of a random Fighter, gaining their abilities and control of the Fighter's two extendable ARMS in the process, along with two more pairs. Hedlok also notably has spiraled irises.

When fighting Hedlok, he may throw up to 6 extendable ARMS at one time, which can be blocked or deflected as normal, making him the most challenging Fighter in the game.

No matter which Fighter Hedlok resembles, his special move is always the same; a large, explosive shot which deals around 400 damage, even if the player is not directly touching it - this can be blocked, however.

Modes

Hedlok appears in three different modes.

In Grand Prix

Hedlok is the final opponent in the Grand Prix mode after Max Brass from difficulty level 4 upwards (he is not encountered in difficulty level 3 or lower, ending the game after the Max Brass fight). Upon defeating Max Brass, Hedlok descends from above, brainwashing Max and triggering one final fight. The ARMS used by Hedlok are a combination of the arms used by Max Brass during the previous fight, and can change between rounds.

The fight continues on the Sky Arena.

The Hedlok fight is different from previous fights due to the lack of a timer - each Round will continue until either the player or Hedlok is KO'd, due to the infinite timer.

Upon defeating Hedlok, he escapes from Max Brass's body, ending the Grand Prix. Max appears unscathed, and flexes his muscles before the Awards Ceremony begins.

In 1-on-100

Hedlok is the final opponent that must be fought in 1-on-100. It takes the form of a standard 1-on-100 enemy, with the player being allowed to heal, if they are not at full health, before fighting him. The ARMS used by Hedlok are the same for each stage, and the Fighter used is the same as the player's Fighter.

In VS Hedlok

Hedlok is the namesake of the VS Hedlok mode, seen in Party Match, being the primary opponent players must fight against in it (up to three Fighters can take part). It can use any combination of fighter and ARMS. In order to win, it must be defeated before the timer runs out, even if it has less health than the players fighting it. It is affected by items just like normal fighters, allowing it to be damaged or healed, and it can use a special. The difficulty of the fight is linked to either difficulty level 4, 5, 6, or 7 from Grand Prix, as indicated next to his name.

Trivia

• Although Hedlok was officially revealed as part of the ARMS Global Testpunch on 2017-06-02, he was leaked before his official reveal on a Twitch.tv stream.
• Despite taking the body of Byte, Barq is not present when fighting Hedlok in his form.
• Hedlok’s name may be a reference to a headlock, which is when a person’s arm is wrapped around another person’s neck, thus trapping them.
• Oddly, when defeated during a Party Match mode, Hedlok doesn't detach itself and fly away from its host character.
