After a brief battle, Coyle knocks Brass out of the ring, and challenges the player to a fight. When Coyle is defeated, she calls her "masterpiece", Hedlok, and is willfully taken over by it. Like in the lower difficulties, the player must defeat Hedlok to proceed. If the player succeeds, Dr. Coyle smashes Hedlok to pieces and teleports away, arms crossed. Grand Prix is an offline single-player or co-op mode in which the player attempts to defeat 10 fighters in a row, before (potentially) facing a final boss. It includes a mix of fights and sporting events. Biff commentates in between rounds, providing useful information to the player.
Plot
Structure and Difficulty
Difficulty levels
The Grand Prix has multiple different difficulty levels the user can select from. The difficulty scale starts at 1 and ends at 7, with difficulty level 1 being the easiest and difficulty level 7 being the hardest, similar to other Nintendo games such as Kid Icarus Uprising. The behaviour of the fighters, and the fights played at the end of the game, change with each difficulty level. Since Version 5.0.0, for Grand Prix LV6 and lower, the computer will now get stronger as you get deeper into the Grand Prix. For Grand Prix LV7, the computer will start out strong right from the first match, as usual.
Structure of rounds
The structure of the rounds the player partakes in is as follows*, with small differences depending on the number of players:

*No fighter will be fought twice when playing solo. In co-op, fighters may appear twice, but never twice as the main opponent.
**The same mode will not appear twice. For example, if Skillshot was played in Match 3, it won't be played again in Match 6.
All fighters are potential opponents between Stage 1 and Semifinals in completely random order except Max Brass, Dr. Coyle, and Springtron.
All fighters are fought on their respective stage. The only exception is Match 1, which takes place at the stage of the fighter selected by Player 1. (Except for Max Brass, who will fight on Spring Stadium for Stage 1.)
When you lose a match, you can rematch as much as possible, and save & quit in each round, except the Springtron match, which will lead to Grand Finale automatically.
When playing with two players, each round consists of two fighters, not one, with the main opponent shown in the introduction to the match and another selected at random, but not repeating in second role.
