Serp, also known as Serperiorfan, is a Canadian ARMS player who mains Max Brass. In his prime, he was considered one of the best Max Brass players in North America. Serp is credited with creating the "Stun Brass" set, which is still used by many Max Brass players today.
Serp initially saw ARMS during its reveal on January 12th, 2017, during a Nintendo Switch presentation. He found it to be an interesting new IP, though he had no experience playing or even watching fighting games at the time. He later watched the ARMS Direct in April 2017 and became more interested in the game, despite not owning a Switch or expecting to get one. After ARMS was released, Serp played the game at a friend's house and quickly became interested in getting it himself. Several content creators showcasing their "Road to Rank 15" runs online further increased his interest in the game.
That summer, Serp convinced his parents to buy him a Switch as an early birthday present if he completed a reading list. He completed the list and acquired a Switch and ARMS in mid-July. His first contact with the competitive scene came in September 2017, when Jean Marc invited him to the ARMS of the North (AotN) Discord server and to join their crew, which consisted of some of the strongest ARMS players in Canada.
Serp attended numerous offline events in 2018, including Showdown Battle Royale 3 and Summer Jam 12, where he also provided commentary. He additionally commentated at a pre-Summer Jam weekly and an AotN Tag Team Tournament held earlier that year. Throughout the rest of 2018, he competed and performed well in several event series, including Champions of the Era and Mega League Monday. In February 2019, Serp joined RipTide eSports for ARMS and later joined their Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team as well. From May 31st to June 2nd, he attended Smash'N'Splash 5, one of the year's premier majors, where he placed 9th in ARMS.
In the following months, mild competitive burnout and disputes within the community led Serp to step away from the ARMS scene. His interest in the game returned in mid-2020 following announcements regarding ARMS content in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and official events hosted by Nintendo. The game's relatively stable netcode also allowed him to participate in online events more easily during the COVID-19 pandemic. During this period, Serp maintained a semi-active presence by commentating weekly events such as Temple Tantrum and Default Derby, while also entering tournaments occasionally. His return to competition resulted in him being ranked 3rd in the ARMS NA Online Season 5 Power Ranking and placing 5th in its associated invitational. Alongside his other achievements throughout his ARMS career, these results established Serp as one of the strongest competitive players in North America.
Serp has since retired from competitive ARMS. Beginning in 2021, he started competing in other fighting games, including Guilty Gear Strive, Granblue Fantasy Versus, and Street Fighter 6. He is also a tournament organizer within the Ontario fighting game community and runs the weekly fighting game tournament series Just Mids.
Playstyle
Serp is best known for his use of the Stun attribute with Tribolt and Chakram, a combination that allows him to keep opponents under constant pressure while dealing high damage. This setup became known as "Stun Brass" and was created by combining the Tribolt from Serp's original loadout with the Chakram. The setup proved to be highly effective, leading many other Max Brass players to adopt it or variations of it.

Trivia
- Serp's original tag, Serperiorfan, was created when he needed a username for a YouTube account. After hearing tournament organizers call out the full name and realizing that most people already shortened it to Serp, he eventually adopted Serp as his primary tag. He also occasionally uses the tag Serpikmin, which combines his name with the Pikmin series, one of his favorite game series.
- Serp created ARMSBot 2, a spiritual successor to an earlier bot used across ARMS Discord servers to create player cards featuring information such as their tag and friend code. He created the bot both as a way to contribute to the ARMS community and to practice coding outside of his academics.
