To select a costume, click and hold , then hold in the direction of the desired costume while confirming with . Simply choosing a character without tilting the stick will usually select the “up” costume, and if multiple players tilt the stick while selecting the same character, they will be the same costume instead of the game forcing alternate costumes on some players.
