::::It occurs to me that a non-automated barrier to account creation would shut them down entirely without having a meaningful effect on anything else, assuming that you still wouldn't need an account to edit pages. Just food for thought. --[[Special:Contributions/24.212.154.197|24.212.154.197]] 13:01, 15 September 2018 (UTC)

::::::''Non''-automated. That is, have an application process that includes having an actual human on the site's side of the process. The wiki for Sentinels of the Multiverse does this (you can easily get an account just by asking in the appropriate topic on the game's official forums, but this is the ''only'' way to do so)
Yet another alternative: find a way to implement the policy on who's allowed to have a user page into the site's code itself. This, again, has no effect on legitimate usage of the site for its intended purpose while completely shutting down the bots. --[[Special:Contributions/24.212.154.197|24.212.154.197]] 20:59, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
