Grand Prix is an offline single-player or co-op mode in which the player attempts to defeat 10 fighters in a row, before (potentially) facing a final boss. It includes a mix of fights and sporting events, and while Biff commentates during intermissions, providing useful information to the player.

The mode itself doesn't have an explicit plot, although several events do occur during it.

After beating every other rival fighter, the player will eventually reach the Grand Finale against Max Brass, a veteran fighter who uses championship belts to form his elastic ARMS. Before long, you are thrust into battle, and, upon beating Max, the game ends; if the player is in difficulty level 4 to 5, however, Hedlok descends from above, brainwashing Max. The player must then fight Hedlok to win the Grand Prix; upon succeeding, Hedlok flies off, leaving Max unscathed, before the Awards Ceremony begins. The Grand Prix mode then ends.

On level 5 or higher, Dr. Coyle will teleport into the ring during Max Brass' introduction, and attack him. After a brief battle, Coyle knocks Brass out of the ring, and challenges the player to a fight. When Coyle is defeated, she calls her "masterpiece", Hedlok, and is willfully taken over by it. Like in the lower difficulties, the player must defeat Hedlok to proceed. If the player succeeds, Hedlok explodes, and Dr. Coyle teleports away, arms crossed. The camera pans over to see Max Brass, safely floating down on a pair of Parasols. He strikes a heroic pose for the camera as he lands. From here, the same ending occurs.
On level 6 or higher, Dr. Coyle will teleport into the ring during Max Brass' introduction and attack him, unless the player is using Dr. Coyle herself. === Difficulty levels ===
The Grand Prix has multiple different difficulty levels the user can select from. The difficulty scale starts at 1 and ends at 7, with difficulty level 1 being the easiest and difficulty level 7 being the hardest, similar to other Nintendo games such as Kid Icarus Uprising. The behaviour of the fighters, and the fights played at the end of the game, change with each difficulty level.

The behaviour of the fighters, and the fights played at the end of the game, change with each difficulty level. Since Version 5.0.0, for Grand Prix LV6 and lower, the computer will now get stronger as you get deeper into the Grand Prix. For Grand Prix LV7, the computer will start out strong right from the first match, as usual.

All fighters are fought on their respective stage. The only exception is Match 1, however, which takes place at the stage of the fighter selected by the player 1. (Except for Max Brass, who only fights on his own stage during the Grand Finale.)
All fighters are potential opponents between Stage 1 and Semifinals in completely random order except Max Brass, Dr. Coyle, and Springtron.

When you lose a match, you can rematch as much as possible, and save & quit in each round. Except in Springtron's match, it will skip to Grand Finale automatically.

When playing with two players, each round consists of two fighters, not one, with the main opponent shown in the introduction to the match and another selected at random, but not repeating in second role.

*Because Max Brass' stage of origin is the Sky Arena and can only be played in the Grand Prix towards the end when the player confronts him, whenever playing as Max Brass the first round will always be a fight with Spring Man in Spring Stadium.
