ARMS is an upcoming fighting game exclusive to the Nintendo Switch video game console. The game features professional boxer-like fighters who can attack each other from across an arena using weapons known as ARMS, which are attached to the ends of the fighters' extendable arms.

ARMS is scheduled for release on 2017-06-16 in the US[1], Europe[2], and Japan[3].

Gameplay

Each player controls one fighter from an over-the-shoulder third-person point of view. The game optionally takes advantage of the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers' built-in motion controls, allowing players to throw punches, block, and move around the arena by flicking or tilting the controllers. Using a single Joy-Con held sideways is also an option. The game is playable with either 2 players (1v1), or 4 players (2v2)[4]. The game includes online party and ranked battle modes, and local wireless mode.

Modes

ARMS has several gameplay modes, including:

  • Grand Prix: In this single-player mode, you compete against 10 consecutive AI opponents with random options.
  • Versus: This mode allows you to customize your match options.
  • Party Match: This mode allows the game to choose who you should play with and keep score.
  • Ranked Match: This mode matches you up with a player of your skill for intense 1 on 1 battles.
  • Get ARMS: This training stage lets you unlock new ARMS.
