Spenjo is an ARMS player from the United States who mains Min Min and is best known as one of the co-leaders of the ARMS team Polaris. He initially purchased the game early in the Nintendo Switch’s lifespan due to limited launch titles, but quickly grew attached to ARMS because of its distinctive character designs and soundtrack. During the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, he became involved with the Casual ARMS community through friends from the Splatoon scene.
Spenjo’s transition into competitive play was gradual, sparked by memorable online matches against top-ranked players, which motivated him to begin entering community tournaments such as those hosted by Mileve and Era. His playstyle was consistently aggressive, often pushing the limits of offense. With Min Min, he leveraged deflects and the Dragon ARM to apply pressure.
Beyond playing, Spenjo was a major community organizer. He served as a co-leader of Polaris ARMS team alongside Gillyboat4 and TreeBird, during a period when the team was one of the most active crews in the competitive scene. He also co-hosted Polaris Punchout in April of 2020, in addition to the later events in the series. Following the surge of interest after Min Min’s reveal in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Spenjo dedicated significant time to coaching new players, running a large-scale mentorship system through Polaris that connected learners with top character specialists. He additionally participated in crew battles with CasualCrew and ABC, and contributed occasional commentary for community events.
In later years, Spenjo gradually stepped away from competitive ARMS as his interests shifted. He is currently focused on his studies to become a social studies teacher and no longer actively plays video games, spending most of his time on school, work, and fitness.
Playstyle
With Min Min, Spenjo liked to stay on the offensive, constantly keeping pressure on his opponents. He used deflects to punish attacks and the Dragon ARM to stay aggressive, always looking for openings to get in close and keep the momentum going. His style was about forcing the fight rather than waiting for it.
