Serp, formerly known as Serperiorfan, is a Canadian ARMS player who mains Max Brass. He and Steelhead are considered the best Max Brass players in North America. The creation of the 'Stun Brass' set can be attributed to Serp, which is still used by many Max Brass players today.
Serp initially saw ARMS upon its initial reveal on January 12th, 2017 during a Nintendo Switch presentation and found it to be an interesting new IP, though not much else. At this time, he had no experience playing or even watching any fighting games so the game didn't directly appeal to him specifically. Serp later watched the ARMS Direct in April 2017 and found the game to seem cool even though he didn't have a Switch nor did he expect to get one. He kept ARMS in mind and upon its release managed to play it at a friend's house. After playing the game for the entire stay, it was decided that he eventually wanted to acquire it. Several content creators showed off their "Road to Rank 15" runs online which greatly affected Serp's interest as well. That Summer, Serp convinced his parents to buy him a Switch as an early birthday present if he completed a reading list, which worked out in his favor, acquiring a Switch and ARMS in mid-July. His first contact with the competitive scene was that September when Jean Marc invited him to the ARMS of the North (abbreviated AotN) Discord Server and to be a part of their crew which was made up of some of the best ARMS players in Canada.
Serp attended numerous offline events in 2018 including Showdown Battle Royale 3 and Summer Jam 12, both of which he did some commentary work at. He also commentated at a pre-Summer Jam weekly and an AotN Tag Team Tournament held in early 2018. Throughout the rest of 2018, he competed and excelled in many event series including Champions of the Era and Mega League Monday. In February of 2019, Serp joined RipTide eSports for ARMS and later joined their Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team as well. On May 31st through June 2nd, he attended Smash'N'Splash 5, one of the premiere majors of the year, and placed 9th in ARMS. In the following months, due to mild competitive burn out and fierce community disputes, Serp took a step away from the ARMS scene at large. With announcements regarding ARMS content in Smash Ultimate and official events being ran by Nintendo themselves, his interest in the game came back in mid-2020. The game's decent enough netcode also meant that he could play in events and such with greater ease during quarantine due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Serp's semi-active presence included commentating weekly events such as Temple Tantrum and Default Derby as well as entering events on occasion. His efforts in competition paid off in being ranked 3rd in the ARMS NA Online Season 5 Power Ranking and placing 5th in its associated invitational. This alongside his other achievements throughout his ARMS career, has shown that Serp is among the strongest competitive adversaries in North America.
Playstyle
Serp is often known for his use of the stun attribute with the Tribolt and Chakram in which he aims to put his opponents into a vortex of pressure and high damage. This set originated as a combination of the Tribolt from his initial set, as he heard of its viability from others online, and the Chakram from fellow Max Brass user Redingard's usual loadout. The iconic set came to be known as 'Stun Brass' by most in the ARMS community for obvious reasons and its effectiveness was evident as many other Max Brass players began using it or some variation of it. Serp also made use of the Sparky at times which showed to him that it was not as bad as most consider it, at least within certain match-ups. In terms of other fighters, he experimented with Misango for a short period of time and has a pocket Springtron that's more often used for fun.

Trivia
- Serp's original tag, Serperiorfan, was created when he needed a username for a YouTube account. After realizing that the full name was somewhat of a mouthful (primarily from hearing Smash tournament organizers call it out) and that most people simply used a shortened version anyways, he decided to change it to just Serp. Serp uses the name 'Serpikmin' at times as well as it incorporates his tag as well as the Pikmin series which he notably loves.
- Serp created ARMSBot 2, a spiritual successor to a bot utilized throughout ARMS Discord servers to create cards featuring one's tag, friend code, and other useful bits of information. His motivation to create the bot was fueled by a desire to contribute something greater to the ARMS community alongside finding a way to practice coding outside of his academics.
