Para is an ARMS player from the United States known for playing a wide range of characters, most notably Ninjara, Spring Man, and Kid Cobra. He is best remembered as one of only two North American players to take a set off of Pega, who was widely regarded as the best player in the world at the time. Para’s victory occurred at Smash'N'Splash 4 and remains one of the most notable moments in North American ARMS history.
Para first became interested in ARMS following its reveal during the January 12, 2017 Nintendo Switch presentation. He picked up the game at launch later that year and quickly distinguished himself in early competition. Within months, Para was consistently placing highly in Mega League Monday, which was the premier weekly ARMS tournament series at the time. His strong results and clear passion for the game earned him a place on Team Chroma, where he remained active throughout much of 2018.
His breakout performance came at Smash'N'Splash 4, where he defeated Pega in a highly discussed set. The match ended controversially after Para accidentally disconnected his controller shortly before time expired. After deliberation, tournament officials ruled the set in Para’s favor, as there was no realistic path for Pega to secure a comeback within the remaining time. Regardless of the circumstances, the win solidified Para’s reputation as one of North America’s top competitors.
In the later years of his ARMS career, Para entered tournaments less frequently but continued to post strong results when he did compete. Notable placements include 4th at SwitchFest 2019, 5th at Quarantined Rapport, 2nd at the ARMS North American Open (August 2020), and 1st at the ARMS Comeback Series 2. In 2020, Para also became the first player to defeat AstroNinja0 during his dominant run, taking a set in Winners Finals at The Steel Trap 2. Although Para was later eliminated in Grand Finals, his performance further highlighted his high skill ceiling.
Outside of competition, Para was known for experimenting with glitches and out of bounds techniques in ARMS. Inspired by early discoveries involving Max Brass grab mechanics, he explored methods to move characters such as Dr. Coyle outside of stage boundaries. With help from players including Anomika and Kaytchjam, Para successfully performed these techniques on stages such as Sparring Ring and Buster Beach, and later expanded his findings to many other stages. His experimentation contributed to a deeper technical understanding of the game’s mechanics.
During the COVID 19 pandemic, Para briefly shifted his competitive focus to Overwatch, where he competed for a period of time. Since then, he has largely stepped away from competitive gaming altogether. While no longer active in tournaments, Para will occasionally return to ARMS casually. Despite his reduced activity, he remains a highly respected figure in the ARMS community, remembered for his lasting impact on the North American scene.
Playstyle
Para's most prominent main in the past was Spring Man, but he more often utilizes Ninjara today. In terms of ARMS, Para uses Spring Man's default ARMS, the Toaster, Boomerang, and Tribolt, on Ninjara and has also utilized double Glove ARMS often in the past as well. He also plays Kid Cobra on occasion, utilizing Tribolt and Guardian.
