Derfla is an ARMS player from St. Louis, Missouri, best known for playing Helix. They were introduced to ARMS through Steelhead, who spoke to Derfla about the game at a school bus stop. Although Derfla did not initially have a main in mind, they immediately gravitated toward Helix upon seeing the character and committed to him exclusively.

Derfla began competing on day one of ARMS' release, entering a local tournament where they went 0–2. Determined to improve, Derfla spent the following week practicing extensively and returned to the next local event, where Derfla placed second. From that point on, Derfla remained active in the St. Louis ARMS scene, both as a competitor and as a community contributor.

Beyond competition, Derfla played a significant role in the ARMS community. They previously owned the Helix Discord, moderated ARMS Central, and helped moderate and set up the St. Louis ARMS Discord. Derfla was also a frequent stream commentator for local events and served as a tournament organizer for at least one ARMS bracket, though Derfla has downplayed its significance due to limited ARMS player attendance.

In later years, Derfla gradually stepped away from competitive ARMS. They have cited the decline of consistent local tournaments as the primary reason, explaining that without a reliable weekly or monthly schedule, it became difficult to remain dedicated to the game.

Today, Derfla is no longer active in the ARMS community. Derfla now plays Guilty Gear Strive at a semi-competitive level and has recently been spending time with Deadlock.

Playstyle

Derfla played Helix by zoning people out and doing weird, unexpected things on purpose, making a strong character feel awkward and annoying to fight instead of clean and overpowering.

Trivia

• Derfla entered his first ARMS tournament before owning the game, then went home and did chores so his parents would buy it.
• Derfla has been a solo Helix main for his entire ARMS career and never seriously picked up a secondary.
• Derfla has said that while ARMS feels dormant in their region now, the early years of constant discussion, tournaments, and meta development are something they genuinely miss.
