Steelhead (often shortened to Steel) is an American ARMS player from St. Louis, Missouri. He is one of the founders of the community's first major forum, ARMS Central. He and Serp are considered the best Max Brass players in the world.

Steelhead first discovered ARMS upon its initial announcement on January 12th, 2017. With excitement for the new game, he and fellow Smash Bros. player Guts created a Discord server for ARMS. Despite initially being created for comedic or ironic purposes, the server grew to a large size and eventually outclassed many other ARMS Discords. After gaining some help from the Pokken community for moderation, as well as partnering with the r/ARMS Discord Server, the server was renamed ARMS Central. This server's goal was to be a hub for most, if not all, other ARMS communities while also being a community itself. To this day, ARMS Central is still utilized by many players and community members.

Throughout 2017, after ARMS' release, Steelhead helped create and foster a competitive offline ARMS scene for the local St. Louis area. Being considered one of the strongest local scenes for the game, if not the strongest overall, their events culminated with Smash Out Hunger 2017 in December of 2017 which ascended in status from a local to a fully-fledged ARMS major. Under the Neopunch team, Steelhead demonstrated his skills and took 1st place at the event, winning over numerous top players in St. Louis, including HanukkahJamboree, N-Man, and Luna-Gabs. Shortly after this win, he parted ways with Neopunch.

On February 4th, 2018, Steelhead formally announced that he was leaving the ARMS community as the game was bringing out the worst in his emotions. Upon reflection at a later time, he realized that he often engaged in arguments or drama with other players which didn't promote a positive environment. Steelhead still occasionally went to locals and supported the community throughout his retirement, even running a small tournament known as "The Steel Trap" in August of 2019, but did not fully return to the community until early March of 2020, just before the announcement of an ARMS character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. After coming back from hiatus, he continued to show his prowess by placing high in numerous online majors including Bamboo Battles: Hibernation Arc and Quarantined Rapport 2. In July of 2020, Steelhead began running more Steel Trap weeklies with himself and HanukkahJamboree on commentary.

Throughout Steelhead's ARMS career, he has displayed that he is one of the best players in North America. He has placed #1 on the St. Louis ARMS Power Ranking numerous times, as well as earning a #0 spot during his time off. He has also become the most prominent and proficient Max Brass user in the world, with Pega retiring from the game and Serp being less active than he once was. Over his ARMS journey, Steelhead has also been a part of numerous well known eSports organizations including Empire Arcadia, BreakThough eSports, and Milky Way eSports. Once Milky Way eSports disbanded, Steelhead preferred to remain unaffiliated as he found being on a team to be unnecessary for ARMS. Despite being essentially retired for a decent fraction of ARMS' life, Steelhead has remained a prominent member of the community and one of its best players, being considered by many to be in the top 5 best players in North America.

Playstyle

Steelhead leans more on the defensive side than most Max Brass players. His style utilizes Brass' permacharge to keep heavy pressure from a considerable distance. He tends to stick to Brass' default ARMS, especially the Nade, but as time passed he began to embrace customs, using ARMS like the Chakram, Hydra, and Toaster more frequently. His style will change drastically depending on the opponent between the defensive zoning he was previously known for and a more aggressive bait-and-punish style.

Steelhead has also been known to play Springtron on occasion, with some considering him to be the best Springtron player in the world. This is partially due to the overall lack of Springtron players.
