ARMS Sugoude Gag Fight! (Japanese: ARMS スゴウデギャグファイト!) (ISBN978-4-09-142825-7) was a manga released in October 2018 by Shogakukan and features all fifteen fighters in comedic scenes drawn in chibi style. The (very) soft cover book contains 15 chapters that span 125 black-and-white pages; the book sleeve is in full colour, while the soft covers sport a monochromatic version of the covers in cyan only.

Plot

The overarching plot seems – NB: the author of this section does not speak Japanese, so they are simply assuming this from pictures, please fix! – to revolve around Spring Man and Ribbon Girl walking around and meeting all of the ARMS fighters. The first two chapters are about Spring Man and Ribbon girl, while the other thirteen chapters each concentrate on one of the other Fighters.

Throughout the story it seems some of the game mechanics are introduced, all wrapped in a lot of gags, where in most cases Spring Man is the butt of the jokes. All of the characters get a fair share of spotlight, as the two antagonists meet a new fighter every chapter. When they do, they learn something about the fighter’s characteristics – either game- or personality-wise – as well as uncover more details about the (meta)game.

Promotional Art for the Manga, featuring Spring Man

Part of the first chapter was also released in the October 2017 issue of CoroCoro Comic, a popular monthly Japanese magazine which promotes toys and video games. It is a four page manga with five brief, comedic scenes featuring Spring Man and Ribbon Girl drawn in a chibi style.

The Manga is divided into five strips. The simple plot involves Spring Man and Ribbon Girl explaining various elements of ARMS to the reader while having a fight, with each strip ending with some sort of gag.

The first strip is called "Spring Man". It begins with the two fighters introducing themselves. Spring Man explains the purpose of ARMS by grabbing some pizza to eat, much to the dismay of Ribbon Girl.

The second is called "Ribbon Girl". She shows off her double-jump ability, leaving Spring Man Awestruck. He attempts to one-up her ability by jumping on the springboards of Spring Stadium, however his confidence is broken when he finds himself stuck hanging from the rafters.

Strip three is called is called "Special Training Mode". Ribbon Girl explains V-Ball, in which Spring Man is unaware of the explosive ball, causing him to become injured. Ribbon Girl convinces the reluctant Spring Man to join her in a game of Hoops, a game which Spring Man is equally unfamiliar with, causing him to be immediately dunked.

In strip four, "Malfunction", Spring Man's ARMS fail. Though all hope seems to be lost, he fights on, only to become entangled in his own extendable limbs.

The fifth and Final strip is called "Item Helicopter". Spring Man rejoices at the sight of an Item Helicopter, hoping to recieve HP Juice, but is instead, a Fire Bomb drops. It ends with Spring Man pulling out a net and backpack, proposing to collect all of the items, causing Ribbon Girl to yell at him for interrupting the match.
